What's the difference between Nioxin Systems 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, and how do I know which one to use? Which system you should use depends on your hair condition. System 1 is for natural hair (uncoloured and untreated) with light thinning (you notice more hair falling, but you can`t easily see the scalp looking into a mirror).  System 2 is for natural hair (uncoloured and untreated) with progressed thinning (you already have far less hair overall and you can easily see the scalp). System 3 is for coloured hair with light thinning. System 4 is for coloured hair with progressed thinning. System 5 is for chemically treated hair (bleached, straightened or relaxed) with light thinning. System 6 is for chemically treated hair with progressed thinning.

Can Scalp & Hair Treatment be used on dry hair? The Scalp & Hair Treatment should only be used on damp hair, after applying System Kit Shampoo & Conditioner. However, on days when you don't get your hair wet, Diamax can be used as an alternative treatment to the Scalp & Hair Treatment, as Diamax can be used on dry hair.

What do you consider "light thinning" vs. "progressed"? Light thinning would be normal to thin looking. You may be the only one to notice that the hair is thinning. Progressed thinning is more noticeable to others. You may see a widening part, thin stops, visible scalp, or a receding hairline.

What hair types can System 5 Treatment be used on? It is suitable for all types of hair textures, from straight to curly. This product is suitable for all genders, young and old experiencing thinning or looking to maintain strong, healthy hair.

Do I have to use this treatment daily? For best results, it is highly recommended that the Scalp & Hair Treatment be used daily, along with the Scalp Cleanser Shampoo, Scalp Therapy Conditioner and any additional Nioxin treatments/styling products. However, it is not required to use daily. Results may just take longer.

My hair has been permed, is System 5 right for me? Yes, System 5 & 6 are designed for hair that has undergone any form of chemical treatment.

Is this fragrance free? It has a mild peppermint scent.

Does system 5 contain minoxidil? No, none of the System Kits contain Minoxidil. Products that contain minoxidil clearly state that it contains Minoxidil on the label with the %.

My hair has just highlights, should I use System 5? No, System 3 and 4 are specifically designed for colour-treated hair.

Does this treatment offer UV protection or heat protection? No.
